2020-2021 Important Dates

September 20

County Coordinators provide the Florida History Day office the County Entry Form, with contact information for the local coordinator(s) by this date.

The $100 county entry fee, payable by check or purchase order to the Friends of the Museums of Florida History, Inc. is due by February 5.

March 15

County coordinators NOT using Zfairs contest management system must provide the Florida History Day office with the registration spreadsheet of first- and second-place county winners who will advance to the state competition by this date.

County coordinators using Zfairs contest management system must promote their advancing students in the system by this date.


March 26

County Coordinators provide the Florida History Day office with the following items by this date:

Original copies of the Student Registration Forms [Coordinators should keep a copy of the forms].
Name(s) of the Outstanding County Award recipient(s).
Website Entry Form with URLs for entries.
County History Day Statistics Form.
Names of students with special needs attending the state contest.

Deadline for teacher award nominations: Florida Teacher of Merit, Mayflower Outstanding Teacher, National History Day Teacher Awards.

Deadline for student applications for FHD special prizes.

Deadline for student scholarship nominations: Mayflower Legacy Scholarship and National Maritime Historical Society Scholarship.

April 6

Online Student Contest Registration closes on this day.

Student access to website entries closes on this day.

ALL advancing students must have completed the online registration and all materials uploaded to the required location in the student account:

Historical Papers with process paper and annotated bibliography uploaded to student account.
All required documents including process paper and annotated bibliography for all categories uploaded to student account.
Documentary and Performance videos uploaded to online storage and link entered into student account.

Judging begins for all categories

May 4

Florida History Day state competition winners announced.

National History Day competition
